On Thursday June 1st 2021, I received an email from Microsoft telling me that I received the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award. My award is given for the category Enterprise Mobility, which covers most of the topics part of the Microsoft 365 line of products.
It’s a real honor to be recognized by Microsoft for the community work I’ve done recently, and I really consider myself lucky to have become part of a group of experts who all share a passion of sharing their knowledge with the community.
My public MVP profile is available here: https://mvp.microsoft.com/en-us/PublicProfile/5001131
So what’s the MVP award?
On the Microsoft MVP website Microsoft explains:
Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals, or MVPs, are technology experts who passionately share their knowledge with the community. They are always on the “bleeding edge” and have an unstoppable urge to get their hands on new, exciting technologies. They have very deep knowledge of Microsoft products and services, while also being able to bring together diverse platforms, products and solutions, to solve real world problems. MVPs make up a global community of over 4,000 technical experts and community leaders across 90 countries/regions and are driven by their passion, community spirit, and quest for knowledge. Above all and in addition to their amazing technical abilities, MVPs are always willing to help others – that’s what sets them apart.
In order to be considered for the MVP award, you need to be nominated by either another MVP or someone working at Microsoft. In my case, I was nominated by Peter Daalmans, with which I work closely in the Workplace Ninja User Group Netherlands. The fact that you are nominated doesn’t automatically mean that you get the award as well, you really have to prove that you are involved in community related activities like blogging or organizing events. Also in order to be considered for extension of your award, you’ll need to continue your efforts.
A word of thanks to Peter Daalmans for nominating me, really appreciated, but also to my wife Miranda and my children Colin and Caitlin for supporting me while putting a lot of effort in community activities besides the work I perform at my customers. Also a big thanks to my colleagues Tamara and Mike which motivate me to go the extra mile for both my customers and my community activities. And last but not least, all the amazing people I work with on a daily basis and you, the readers of my blog. I’m looking forward to continue with sharing my knowledge.
